Innoveren voor vermaatschappelijking

Abstract

This project aims:

  1. to identify citizens’/consumers’ wishes and demands concerning multifunctional agriculture and
  2. to design or redesign some innovations within multifunctional agriculture on the basis of identified societal demands and in an interactive way with both multifunctional entrepreneurs and other stakeholders.

Approach

Innovations in multifunctional agricultural usually are initiated and designed by entrepreneurs who seek to address observed market demands. However, hardly ever citizens / consumers themselves are involved in these innovation processes. At the same time it can be argued that citizen / consumer involvement in innovation processes may improve the quality and societal relevance of the resulting innovations. This project involves a type of action research that aims to involve citizens / consumers and their demands explicitly in design processes concerning innovations within multifunctional agriculture.

Results

The most important results and products are:

  • Program of Societal Demands for multifunctional agriculture, reported in a brochure and a presentation
  • Some concrete designs for innovations and/or improvements within multifunctional agriculture
  • Concrete plans of actions for entrepreneurs concerning the implementation of the innovation or improvement
  • Report and presentation for both multifunctional entrepreneurs and policy makers.
